Patient Reported Outcomes (ePROs), Research Revolution 2024, and more....

Hi Reader

I've not been able to prioritize the podcast until recently. Last month, I recorded 4 interviews and I cannot wait to share them with you.

In this episode, we will explore the role of design in clinical trials, with a focus on electronic Patient Reported Outcome (ePROs).

Most clinical research professionals are so focused on protocol development, data collection, and analysis, that it’s easy to overlook the importance of well-designed technology that supports clinical trials.

One such technology product is electronic Patient Reported Outcomes or ePROs. ePROs are surveys that are presented to and completed by clinical trial participants as part of the study requirements.

To learn more about ePROs and the role of design in clinical trials, I invited Bruce Hellman and Ben James on the Clinical Trial Podcast.

Ben is the Chief Design Officer and Co-founder at uMotif. Ben leads the design team and is responsible for product design and innovation at uMotif, with the focus of bringing consumer-grade experiences to the life sciences industry.

Bruce is the Chief Patient Officer & Co-Founder at uMotif. Bruce is uMotif’s entrepreneurial leader and co-founded the company along with Ben in 2012.

Please enjoy my conversation with Bruce and Ben!

Love,

Kunal

P.S. I also started a YouTube channel. I'm trying to get to 1000 subscribers by September 30, 2024. Can you help me by subscribing to Clinical Trial Podcast on YouTube?

Resources for You

A book I'm currently enjoying

Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis by J.D. Vance (Amazon, B&N)

When J.D. Vance was chosen as the U.S. Republican Vice Presidential candidate, I thought it might be a great time to read this book that I got months ago but did not get a chance to read it.

The author does a beautiful job of portraying the real struggles of working-class Americans and his childhood years in Kentucky and Ohio.

When my extended family and friends from India think of life in the United States, the first thought that comes to their mind is the glamour of New York and Hollywood, Disney World, luxury cars, and Apple products.

This book reveals a different, lesser-known side of the American life.

Career Opportunities

The following organizations are hiring for clinical and non-clinical roles. If you’re interested in advancing your career & meet most of the job requirements, consider applying for the role.

  1. Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA) and Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) do a great job of posting clinical research opportunities on their website. Check them out here and here.
  2. One of my favorite job resources is Biospace. A quick search shows me there are 997 job openings in clinical
  3. Mercy Research in St. Louis, MO, is hiring for 5 research roles.

I hear a lot of negative news about layoffs or being underpaid. But I'll tell you that there are many opportunities out there that are waiting for you. Permit yourself to seize the opportunities that align best with your skills and interests.

Hey friend!

Thanks for listening to the Clinical Trial Podcast and subscribing to my blog.

You are the best part of my clinical research journey and I appreciate you!

Till next time,
Kunal "grateful" Sampat
